We had an amazing stay at Wyndham Grand Barbados, Sam Lord’s Castle All-Inclusive Resort with our family, and it truly exceeded our expectations.
The Castle View Restaurant was especially pleasant. The ribeye steak dinner was absolutely delicious perfectly cooked and flavorful. Even my kids, who are usually very picky with their steak, cleaned their plates! That says everything.
The kids had a blast at the pool. There was great music, a lively DJ, and fun, playful events throughout the day that encouraged everyone to participate. It created such a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for both adults and children.
A very special thank you to Kenrico, our butler, who was incredibly attentive throughout our stay. From booking restaurant reservations to arranging in-room dining, he handled everything seamlessly and made us feel truly cared for.
The daily buffet staff was also wonderful with our children very friendly and accommodating. The food selection was solid, with a nice variety of cultural options available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There was always something for everyone.
Tanya at the front desk was warm, welcoming, and made sure our entire party felt comfortable from the moment we arrived. Her hospitality truly set the tone for a fantastic stay.
We stayed in Building 5, and our room overlooked the beach. We were even lucky enough to witness a beautiful wedding ceremony from our view such a special and memorable moment.
The only small downside is that the beach is on the rocky, windier side of the island but that’s simply Mother Nature and out of the resort’s control.
Our kids also enjoyed learning about the history of Sam Lord’s Castle, which added a unique cultural touch to the experience.
Overall, we had a fantastic family vacation and would absolutely return. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so memorable!
Thank you to everyone at Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle. 👏

We recently stayed at Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord's Castle, and while we had a nice time overall, it’s not a resort we would return to.
The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The property sits on the tip of the island, about 15 minutes from the airport, and offers stunning views. However, there isn’t much to do in the immediate area besides the pool and beach. It’s also important to note that you cannot really swim at the beach here due to the very rough ocean and strong waves. They do offer nightly live music and daily activities (if enough guests participate), as well as an excursion desk. There is also shuttle service to Bridgetown and Oistins, but only on certain days and at limited times.
Some of the staff were friendly, while others were not so welcoming. The bartenders at the Lantern Bar were wonderful — always smiling, personable, and they make a great drink!
The food was hit or miss. Sam Lord’s Grill was average, and we waited an hour for our food, which made the experience even more frustrating. Mediterranean Terrace had potential, but since it’s buffet-style, most of the food was not kept at the proper temperature and got cold quickly. Pizza night, however, was fabulous — the fire-grilled pizzas were excellent.
We also wanted to make reservations at the Castleview Restaurant but were told it was fully booked. One evening we decided to walk over to see it for ourselves, and half of the restaurant was empty — yet we were still told they could not accommodate us. That was very disappointing.
Service throughout the resort needs improvement. Tables often didn’t have silverware, and when we asked for it, it took a very long time to arrive. At times, it felt like self-service.
One thing to note: the resort is home to many stray cats that wander the property. They are very friendly, and guests often feed them. There are no signs posted saying not to feed them, yet I was yelled at very rudely and spoken to inappropriately while feeding one. We did speak to the manager, and the situation was addressed appropriately.
Overall, we did enjoy parts of our stay and had a nice time, but due to the inconsistent service, long wait times, dining frustrations, rough beach conditions, and overall experience, we would not choose to return.

Stayed 8 nights at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle February 5 through the 13th. We stayed in the Zephyr Suite and it was beautiful, though the way this property is set up I don't believe there's a room without a wonderful view. Our butlers were great, whenever we asked for something, we got it. Appreciated the charcuterie upon arrival, and again during our stay. We ate a few times at the Castle View restaurant - make reservations ahead of time - and the food and service were both very good. We enjoyed the buffet and the Sam Lord's Grill too. Also enjoyed the Super Bowl party! I was hesitant to stay as I read some of the reviews, but I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed staying here, and would stay again. No issues upon check in, rum punch welcome drink is killer! Yes, it's remote, but you can make reservations for the hotel's shuttle to Oistens, Bridgetown, Harbor Lights, etc. We rented a car because we wanted to explore on our own and that was interesting, and fun.
Highly recommend the spa! The couples massage was amazing and I had a nice pedi there as well. If you schedule a spa treatment you are able to use their pool which is so serene and relaxing. We had the pool to ourselves!
If you're coming here, just go with the flow. You're on island time!

This hotel is absolutely terrible, my boyfriend booked us to stay here for my birthday as a surprise, I was really excited as it was freezing cold in the States and I couldn’t wait for some sun, the whole time we were there you feel that you are an inconvenience rather than a guest, the staff are so miserable and rude, there are one or two nice ones but it’s slim pickings.
Our bed sheets had holes in them, mouldy cushions on the balcony, the gym is not that good, there is a cable machine with no attachments! And only one bench that everyone fights over and gym towels not replenished regularly so you just have to sweat all over the machines until more arrive.
The buffet food is really bad, something you would find in a 2 or 3 star hotel, the salad bar had just leaves, no tomatoes, no cucumbers, nothing, breakfast had really watery oatmeal, and one person making coffees so you have to wait for ages, one night we went to the grill restaurant but the staff in there were the rudest we had come across so we didn’t go again.
The toilets by the restaurant were usually out of toilet paper so you have to make sure you always carry tissues, the WiFi by the pool is bad, you can just about send a text.
The night we went to the grill restaurant the toilets had sick in the sink and dirty nappies in there!
The balcony at our room had no cover or shade so you can’t sit there in the day as it’s too hot, or if it rains!
When chatting to other guests they all had complaints, mostly about the food and the staff, we met a couple that just got married, they had no champagne or anything in the room, even though it’s all inclusive it would have been a nice gesture, also one guest had do not disturb on the door and was asleep and a housekeeper tried to get in the room, which is really suspicious especially after now reading reviews with the amount of people at this hotel getting stuff stolen from the rooms by staff!
Another guests room had flooded with the shower due to someone else’s hair blocked in the drain.
You can’t swim in the ocean here as it’s too rough and the beach is dirty, so you are stuck to the pools, what’s the point of going to the Caribbean if you can’t swim in the ocean?
The rooms are quite nice and spacious but that’s the only positive about this place!

From the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. The staff especially the young lady brown skin long curly hair can't remember her name she wrote for me, but I can't find the paper, however she went for and beyond her job to make sure everything that I want got done herself.
The amenities were excellent and the overall vibe of the hotel made it easy to unwind and enjoy every moment. Whether you're travelling for business or relaxing getaway, this hotel delivers comfort, quality, great food and outstanding service.
I would absolutely stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful experience.
