I paid to use this gym for 2 weeks whilst on holiday. I had contacted them in advance to see if this was possible, and their communication was good and positive.
I paid $100 USD ($200 BDS) for the 2-week membership, which I thought was excellent value for money.
During my 2 weeks, I used the gym a total of 12 times, mostly using the classes such as Tabata, strictly strength, HIIT, BARfit and Boxercise. All of which I thoroughly enjoyed. The instructors were excellent. I would highlight that (in my opinion), you need a reasonable foundation level of fitness and knowledge of gym moves and weights to do these classes, and I wouldn’t recommend these classes for complete beginners.
ALL of the staff - receptionists, instructors, cleaners were extremely friendly, they all spoke to me every visit and called me by name, which impressed me. The other gym goers were also friendly, sparking up conversation and including me in friendly banter during the classes.
The gym itself, had a good variety of weights, machines and equipment. The changing rooms had lockers and showers, which were always clean and tidy.
Overall, I would highly recommend this gym, I will definitely be signing up again next time I visit Barbados.
Thank you to the team at Surfside Wellness Centre.

Surfside is the absolute worst gym I have ever been to in Barbados. I was absolutely thrilled when my 3 months paid membership was over.
~ Lets start with the fact that there is absolutely no comfortable floor space to workout, if you want to do sit-ups or walking lunges for example think again…..there is nowhere to do such as every room is fully taken up with equipment or a class.
~They have an absolutely ridiculous towel policy in place where if you forget to bring a towel the trainers will harass you about it in a ploy to get you to rent a towel from the gym. Keep in mind that the equipment still has to be wiped off after use which is normal but why continue to harass people for a towel??
~The trainers are extremely superficial. They will appear friendly at first but after you have signed up for membership the friendliness will be over, I have personally experienced telling a trainer good-morning, he looked me right in face and looked off. They will literally see you struggling to use a machine and will not assist if you are not paying for their personal training services.
~The entire culture at this gym is off. The people act like they want to fight over equipment. A gym should be a place of peace, Surfside only has a name but no one in there appears to actually enjoy going there.
~How are they supposed to uphold a certain reputation but they had continuous leaks from the ceiling for the entire time I was there and no sign of these being fixed. They also need to improve the cleanliness of the gym, some of the rooms appear to be rarely cleaned and there is a lot of accumulated dust as can be seen in the clip attached.
My advice to anyone looking for a gym….look elsewhere. A gym should feel like an adult playground not a prison.

Great gym, with excellent trainers. There is also a road tennis court, basketball hoop & a three lane 30 M running track

My recent visit to the GYM was a good one. The staff was friendly lots of free weights, machines updated and in good working order.
The one concern I have would be for people like myself, who is visiting from another country, when signing up for a seven day pass you should be allowed to utilize your days whenever and not within seven consecutive days as it stands right now.
