My wife and I first stayed at the Sugar Bay Suites for ten days in Jan
2025. We liked it so much that we're now here for four months.
The rooms are very nice, clean and well equipped with a microwave, coffee machine, and kettle.
This stay, we rented a two bedroom cottage with a kitchenette. Fridge, stoveve, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, and kettle. Complete with plates, cups, glasses and cutlery plus a few kitchen gadgets.
You can rent with or without a washer and dryer (we rented without) but they do have washers and dryers on site for a minimal fee.
The beds are comfortable and housekeeping comes in twice weekly and all of the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The site includes two pools which are cleaned daily.
The grounds are well kept.
There is a small grocery store within an 8-9 minute walk, and many good restaurants nearby.
We will be returning next year for another stay.

Nice low-key, low-rise resort on the Atlantic side of Frigate Bay, consisting of bungalows and a few two-storey blocks. Two nice (if small) swimming pools, rarely busy and blessedly free of music, aquafit classes and belly flop competitions. Plenty of restaurants and coffee shops and two small supermarkets, all within easy walking distance, including several with good choices for vegetarians.
Our room (ground floor of a two-storey block, facing the ocean) was spacious and clean. It has most things you could want: safe, fridge, kettle, iron, microwave, AC, fan, TV. The bathroom and shower were good (although I would maybe have preferred a walk-in shower - who uses the baths at these places?) Minor inconvenience: the toilet blocked a couple of times, and had to be fixed, which was kind of annoying. My only real complaint is that the drawers in the chest of drawers are REALLY hard to open and close.
WiFi was good and reliable, both in the room and in all the common areas. I was impressed when a security guy knocked on our door one evening to tell us our back door was slightly open.
There is direct access to the beach from the property, but note that this is not the broad expanse of sand at the Marriott that you may have seen pictures of. The beach here is narrow and weed-strewn (and, I'm afraid, garbage-strewn). And it's the Atlantic, so it's rough and steeply-shelving, not advised for swimming. You can, however, walk along the road (not along the beach) 15 minutes to the Marriott's beach, or 15 minutes across the isthmus to the beach on the more laid-back and calmer Caribbean side.

First impression was of a closed down Pontins.
There was various buildings being renovated.
We paid a lot for a sea front two bedroom villa, it was very run down with rusted appliances and ill fitting cupboards and doors.
The beach is rough and swimming is not recommended, there is no chairs on the beach.
One of the receptionist never smiles, and is always on the phone, then again maybe she is a bit depressed working here.
The location however is good, nice walk to the capital and up and down the beach.
Other staff friendly.

Expensive is the word.
Substandard accomodation for $330+ a night.
Please think again before choosing here.
I note they are modernising some accomodation.
We stayed in a 2 bed sea view cottage.
Beach very dirty no sunloungers.

I stayed at Sugar Bay Club in Frigate Bay for a work event and had a great experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and I really appreciated that housekeeping came every day with fresh towels. While there’s no room service, the staff were warm and welcoming, and the convenience store on the property was very handy. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby, making it easy to grab meals. Overall, it was quiet, relaxing, and perfectly suited for a work stay.
