My wife and I were wandering through St. Lawrence Gap, hungry and unimpressed by the usual suspects; polite menus priced for British tourists and stripped of any local soul. Then, out of nowhere, came the sound of Spanish music rolling through the street like a warm breeze. The source? A van with a FULL bar and bass system in the back... Rico’s Car Bar.
A few words in Spanish between my wife and the bartender turned into a seat, a drink, and what proved to be one of the most enjoyable evenings of our trip. The bartender, cheerful, funny, and quick with conversation, made my wife feel instantly at home. The food was humble Cuban fare: simple, flavorful, and honest, which is more than I can say for most fancy establishments.
If you want a night that feels real; music, laughter, and good food without the pretense, then follow the rhythm and let Rico’s find you.

Excellent food and drink reasonably priced. Despite working out of a van, the cook does a great job. Mains are modestly priced and big portions. Sides and snacks stole the show for us though. Cheap and delicious, especially the fish sandwich, hot dog and rico vegetable salad (a refreshing change from greasy food). Pizzas are inexpensive. Drinks are better priced than the big restaurants and bars. Nice vibe sitting by the street people-watching with Latin music softly playing in the background. Family-owned. Cuban women who operate it are friendly and always smiling.
Based on 7 visits - every evening we were in Barbados.

Fried chicken was cooked perfectly and had so much flavour. Get little place! Would highly recommend.. Nice selection of drinks as well.

Authentic Cuban food and Rum in Barbados. Reasonably priced and great service. Don’t under estimate the appearance of chairs and a van on the side walk, some of the best food on the Gap.

One of My Favorite spots on The Gap
Good and Drink are excellent.
The Cuban with a Bajan twist is a good alternative to having the same old same. This place always hits the spot!
