The Prince Klaas Monument is located on Prince Klaas street and Independence Avenue in St. John's, Antigua. The address of the monument and the fact that Prince klaas is one of the National Heroes for Antigua and Barbuda tells of the significance of the Point of interest.
The Prince Klaas Monument has benches and park-like facilities and the statue itself seems to be of a concrete-like material. The scale or size of the actual monument is reasonably modest, not small mind you but not grand or enormous, The abridged history of Prince Klaas and his significance to Antiguan and Barbudan history is inscribed on plaques forming part of the monument.
All in all an interesting and historically significant place to visit and a good place to relax while in that part of the City.

Prince Klaas was an African slave of supposed royal heritage who led the only well documented slave uprising in Antigua and Barbuda. His plan would have seen the demise of the white slave masters and the birth of a nation headed by former slave. He was betrayed by a "house slave". Prince Klass along with the other freedom fighters were put to death in the most horrific ways such as being pulled apart by horses and broken on the wheel. The white masters wanted to send a strong message to any slave who dared to claim their right to be free.
