Local & Co

our ethos - eat well. do good.

From the farmer nurturing his produce ‘til harvest, to our Chef passionately creating gastronomic perfection, at LOCAL & Co. you meet the hands that feed you.

Over eighty-five percent of Barbados’ produce is imported. Our aim is to turn that on its head. It’s why we actively support regenerative food systems, organic farmers, biodiversity and meticulously source and forage for wild foods. By working alongside artisans, producers, farmers, fisherfolk and butchers on the Island we do whatever we can to help maintain the health of our oceans, soils and food communities.

By supporting them, they in turn support us so we can bring you homegrown, clean food… because for 100% you deserve to be nourished with the very best.

Freshly baked pies, pastries, outstanding salads, curries to die for and grab and go meals that will have you coming back for more. And that’s just the food.

This fabulous restaurant has everything. Walk in from the main street into the amazing Coffee bar & small boutique. The aroma of coffee beans hits you as you enter. Pass the cosy settees into the open restaurant set right on the beach, or chill outside right on the beach. The Food is " organic" and beautifully presented. It is of high quality so a little expensive, but worth it. Staff are wonderfully attentive & professional. Although some of last year's staff had moved on. All of the Front of house to behind kitchen Staff work hard and are friendly. Christian in the beach part was particularly charismatic and professional. See below 2 dishes I have eaten here. Can heartily recommend the Tacos.

Local & Co was on my list of critiques for this year . We had the crudo sampler, (recommend a side of breadfruit chips) jerk pork bites , mahi and lobster, chicken curry (please present it better and add cauliflour ) presentation was not appealing compared to the rest. Appetite starts with the eye . Service was excellent . Our bar tender was TOP notch and we enjoyed a rum sampling . The place itself is very charming and inviting . Cocktails were also amazing and very well presented . Will return to try different menu options . Highly recommended !

Local & Co is one of those rare places where the ethos isn’t a marketing line… it’s the entire experience. I came with my mum and we were blown away. The setting is incredible: this antique, baroque, opulent beach restaurant vibe that somehow still feels totally relaxed. Sitting right on that beautiful stretch of sand under the trees (with the lanterns and that disco ball catching the light) is genuinely magical. But the standout, hands down, is what Local & Co stands for. You can feel how committed they are to supporting Barbados and the wider Caribbean through food: locally sourced ingredients, real relationships with farmers and producers, seasonal creativity, and a clear “use what’s around us and do it properly” approach. It’s purposeful, thoughtful, and it shows in every single plate. The dishes are super creative and authentic, beautifully presented, and the flavours are unreal, fresh, bright, perfectly balanced. It’s the kind of food that makes you stop mid-conversation. Service was also brilliant: efficient, warm, and genuinely kind. Everything ran smoothly without ever feeling rushed. And the music was such a vibe too, the playlist just made the whole atmosphere even better. If you’re in Barbados, go. Local & Co is a 10/10 and it deserves all the praise for what it’s building, not just what it’s serving.

Thank you to Mya and the team at Local & Co. for helping my mother and husband celebrate their wedding anniversary last night. They were warmly welcomed with bubbles, and their table was beautifully decorated with petals in the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset. All three courses were absolutely delicious, and the evening ended with a dessert featuring a lovely personalised message, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also highly recommend the rum punch.. a definite highlight of the evening! A special thank you to Shanice as well for helping to arrange everything so seamlessly. It made the celebration truly memorable.

My partner and I chose Local & Co for our Valentine’s dinner and it was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. A huge shoutout to Mckele, Shareece and Marlon for their exceptional service. They were welcoming and truly made the evening feel special. Marlon made sure everything flowed perfectly throughout the night. We started with the beetroot cured king fish and the spicy beef tartare, both were absolutely delicious. In fact, they were so good that we immediately ordered a second round of starters! That alone says it all. For our mains, I had the creole spiced lobster tail and my partner chose the skillet free range chicken. Both dishes were beautifully prepared and full of flavor. While the lobster itself was fantastic, the breadfruit coucou that accompanied it wasn’t quite to my personal taste but everything else on the plate was excellent. For dessert, we both had the sea salt caramel rum tart with banana ice cream and it was the perfect sweet ending to the night. The cocktails were also well made and complemented the meal nicely. Before heading home, we stopped by The Commons Social Club and the vibe there was amazing, stylish and a great way to wrap up the evening. Another shoutout to Mckele for holding it down and keeping the energy just right. Overall, it was a memorable Valentine’s celebration and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
