We booked this stay through AirBnB. One day before our trip my wife was diagnosed with a life threatening condition, which meant we could not fly to Barbados and would not be able to stay in the apartment. We asked if we could get a refund due to the exceptional nature of the circumstances and cancelled our stay so that somebody else could book the place. Even though somebody else rented the apartment, the landlord rejected our request for a refund. Yes, everything was according to the rules and conditions but for example our other landlord refunded us even though he had a more strict no cancellation policy. So I think that it is worth mentioning that with this accommodation you’ll have to deal with someone who doesn’t seem to be very accommodating.

BEWARE!!! We booked the property through Airbnb in about a month advance. Everything was looked OK, BUT the night (10pm) before we had to move in to the property, we received a message that the booking was cancelled. The host said it was Airbnb error, Airbnb say they can't cancel the booking, only the host or guests can do it. They said the host advertised the property on other platform as well, making double booking. The host left us stranded in foreign country, to search for another property in the middle of the night for the next day. We were so stressed from this situation and I can say this ruined our holiday. The host even didn't apologise about the situation. Please don't trust this host (Charlene) as you can finish in our situation. Better find some more reliable host. Edit: I'm keeping all messages in Airbnb and alternative accommodation never was offered from the host. Airbnb message sent to me: ''Airbnb would never want to cancel any reservation, unless it is the Host or the Guest who needs to cancel. At times, Airbnb would cancel a reservation if there is any security/safety related issues. The cancellation of your reservation was due to an issue with the Host's calendar. The Host could not accommodate you because their calendar settings were incorrect and they had other bookings for the same day on platforms other than Airbnb. The Host was not able to sync their calendar to avoid such errors.''
