My wife and I had an amazing hiking experience with Enlightened Traveller in Barbados. Our guide Jabar, was very professional, pleasant and knowledgeable sharing his experience and great insights about the geology, plants and animals of the area. His pace matched our own and we never felt rushed or unsafe. We climbed Chalky mountain that exposed beautiful views of the eastern coast of the island. We also climbed other peaks to the Memorial cross and picture hole.
This tour is a must for anyone with a sense of adventure!
Thank you Jabar, you helped create memories that will last a lifetime!

Hiking Chalky Mount was one of the highlights of my Barbados trip — raw, scenic, and full of local flavor. The terrain is rugged and earthy, with panoramic views over the island’s stunning east coast. Definitely not your average ‘beach vacation’ experience — and that’s what makes it so special.
Massive shoutout to our guide, Jabar, who made the hike even more memorable. Super knowledgeable, passionate about the land, and clearly connected to the culture and history of the area. He didn’t just lead me — he brought the whole place to life. 10/10 would recommend booking a tour with him if you want the real Barbados, beyond the resorts

Jabar is the man! 🙌🏼
My wife and I love to rock climb back in the States, so of course we thought, “Let’s climb in Barbados!” After scouting out some spots on an app, we quickly realized the rock here can be a little sketchy (read: chossy 😬). We figured we’d feel way better with a local guide—if we could even find one.
Our resort’s activities coordinator hadn’t heard of anyone offering rock climbing tours, so we started to think it might not happen. But they kept digging and finally connected us with Jabar—and that’s when our trip went from good to legendary.
Jabar told us he grew up climbing the area we had our eye on and was stoked to take us there. He also said he had a few surprises planned… and he was NOT kidding.
We started the day grabbing fresh local fruit and coconut water 🍍🥥, then went bouldering on the beach (how cool is that?!), climbed the Sleeping Giant 🧗♂️, hiked to what may be the most stunning view on the island 🌄, had lunch at a beautiful restaurant with amazing food 🍽️, and wrapped up the day hiking to a waterfall 💧. Along the way, Jabar dropped all kinds of local knowledge about the parishes and the island’s rich history.
This wasn’t just a climbing trip—it was a full-on Barbados experience curated by someone who genuinely loves where he’s from and wants you to love it too.
We’ve done a lot of excursions over the years, but this one takes the cake. If you’re looking for a guide who brings energy, thoughtfulness, and a whole lot of heart—Jabar is your guy.
Thanks for an unforgettable day, Jabar. You made our week in Barbados something we’ll talk about for years. 🙏🏼

We had a vehicle and didn't need transportation, so Jabar kindly agreed to meet us at the starting point and guide us through the Coles Cave hike. He also provided lighting for the excursion, which was definitely needed. What an experience! I haven't done anything this adventurous in a long time, and it was a blast! Definitely a challenge - lots of climbing, good shoes required, and not for those who are easily freaked out by bats or insects. Jabar was wonderful and kindly captured and sent me lots of pictures to remember the occasion. My phone took some damage and i haven't been able to recover my pictures yet, so i was very grateful for his thoughtfulness! He even offered to take us around to his favorite places on the island another day, but between this hike and our snorkeling excursion we were too tired to take him up on it on the last day of our trip. If we ever make it back to Barbados we will definitely be contacting Enlightened Travelers for another excursion!!! Thank you Jabar!

I had an interesting day with Enlightened Travelers. We went caving in the morning in Coles Cave which is definitely something different to do compared to the typical kinda relaxing activities in Barbados as it’s a bit of a challenge in some ways. In the afternoon we went to get lunch at a vegan spot that I requested to go to and we also went to a spring or mini waterfall to enjoy the peace and quiet and sit under the water. Finally my favourite part of the day was walking on the trails in a village called Chalky Mount with great views and nice breeze, and we drank a beer afterwards with some people from the village and chatted to them. It was really nice to have a new adventure in Barbados and see some of the lesser known parts so I would recommend going with Enlightened Travelers
