Earthworks Pottery
Earthworks Pottery is a production pottery in the Caribbean island of Barbados. Established in 1983 by Goldie Spieler, Earthworks is now run by her son David, along with the capable Earthworks staff of 24 persons.
Red clay ceramic pieces fired to stoneware temperatures make our pottery ideal for the home or restaurant.
We create a fully functional line of tableware in round, square, rectangular and oval. From 20" platters to plates to tiny coasters; bowls in all shapes and sizes.

We visited the highly recommended Earthworks Pottery in St. Thomas on 16th September 2025. Travelling to the location presented an opportunity to explore the island and we found the site with ease.
Our immediate impression was one of fabulous customer service each time we engaged with a representative of the company. Everyone was approachable, friendly, courteous, and helpful.
The pottery crafted is amazing: authentic, colourful, creative, of high quality and demonstrated an impressive level of skill, artistic flair and attention to detail with a range of fantastic designs. There really was something for everyone!
We were kindly offered a tour of the factory giving us the opportunity to observe different stages of pottery making from clay preparation, use of moulds, crafting the clay, painting, and firing in kilns. This provided a real sense of the commitment and hard work required to produce the beautiful pieces on display.
‘Stacey’ (potter), and ‘Akeel’ (clay production) went over and above to describe the operational process in great detail, having super-impressive combined experience of decades in pottery production!
From our interaction with David, the owner and son of the founder, Goldie Spieler, it was clear that he was extremely proud of his team, the superb products created and the company’s legacy. He involves the team in design decisions and evidently gets his hands dirty too - he was on a potters wheel crafting a vessel with ease - which is the mark of a great and respectful leader.
Visiting Earthworks should be a priority. It was our second trip and we could not resist making a few additional purchases! 🤩
“No Ordinary Pottery”, indeed! 💯🏺🔥

Interesting place where you can see the work being done and the retail shop. The folks here are friendly and helpful. They have a wide and interesting selection of items. It does take a bit to get up here from the coast. And we found the prices on the items on the high side.

I just went there today after reading about it online, and although it was a little bit of a drive for us, it did not disappoint. I ended up buying several pieces for myself and my loved one’s back home, and I easily could have gotten more. I love how their pieces are authentic, artistic, durable, and extremely reasonable in price. The workers were very nice, and I would have taken the friendly cat home with me too if I could! Thank you so much for giving us something special to remember our fabulous time in Barbados! ❤️

Visited on Saturday before closing time. As a fellow Potter was delighted to see inside the studio and their store on site. Very friendly, welcoming and has inspired me further in my own pottery work moving forward.
