As a native I'm truly disappointed on how some drivers treat their customers. Last Thursday morning on the bus of Tera Kòrá 6.25 am, I took a little a bit longer than expected to cross the gate to get inside the bus and got an attitude from the lady who was the driver at the time. I politely asked her what's the issue and what can I do to the resolve the issue. She explained with an not so nice attitude that if she let open the gate again, she would get a discrepancy in her cash register which I totally understand. I even offered to pay for a second time, just she won't have that. But she didn't accept it. Ultimately, after her multiple sighs, she let me through. Recently I moved back home after living almost 2 decades abroad, so I don't know the new protocols. It would have been nice that the driver would have been a little nicer. It's a Monday morning! I've seen this type of behavior before from other driver to other customers too. Look, I know the public bus system is not at its best here, to be respectful, but at least I would want a decent treatment, because I choose as a customer that day to pick an ABC bus, I didn't have to. I would hope ABC would improve by giving their drivers some customer service courses, because they desperately need it.

Absolutely unacceptable. We were waiting at the bus stop on time today for bus 6A. The driver clearly saw us and we even gave him a signal, but he simply drove past us without stopping. What made the situation even worse was that the driver waved at us and laughed instead of stopping. That kind of behavior towards passengers is disrespectful and completely unprofessional. What makes it even more frustrating is that the buses here are already very unreliable and sometimes only come once per hour. If you cannot even rely on the bus stopping at the designated stop, the whole system becomes pointless. Sadly, this was not the first time. During our stay in Curaçao, we as tourists have already experienced similar situations three times.

Buses were on-time. Prices were reasonable and drivers accepted payment in USD and local currency. Their app's trip planner could definitely use improvement, especially with the route that services the airport. It asked me to walk to a cargo terminal but airport workers pointed me to a much closer bus stand where the bus did stop. It was as if the app did not know where at the airport the bus would stop....?

I want to express this in the most respectful and polite way possible. That said, the ABC Bus system in Curaçao is, quite frankly, the worst public transportation service I’ve experienced. Nearly all buses arrive 10 to 20 minutes late, and sometimes they don’t show up at all, forcing you to wait up to an hour for the next one. The buses often do not follow the routes shown on the app, and on Saturdays and Sundays, the routes can be completely different. Apparently, this is something that locals are already aware of, but as a tourist, I had no way of knowing this beforehand, nor did I find any information about it. As a result, I had to learn it the hard way, and it was a very frustrating experience. At one point, a bus did not pass by the expected stop, near my Airbnb, but i saw in the app that it was supposed to pass, so I ended up having to walk an hour and a half at 9 PM. The driver (who I understand was just doing his job and is not at fault) simply dropped me off at a certain point and said something like “it’s just 15 minutes” (as if I were overreacting and it wasn’t a big deal). He also added, “in the end, you’ll get home,” downplaying the situation, even though I showed him it was actually a 1.5-hour walk. Walking that distance alone, at night, put me at significant personal risk. Therefore, if you’re a tourist, I would not recommend relying on public buses in Curaçao. It’s simply not worth the trouble. Renting a car is a much better option. I want to emphasize that the bus drivers themselves have been kind and respectful at all times. The issue is not with them, but with the system they operate in (which is deeply flawed and in need of serious improvements). My intention is not to criticize the workers, but to highlight that the service itself is inadequate; especially for visitors who rely on accurate and timely information.

Busses wont stop for white people at the aquarium. They seen us as they drive passed to turn around, and just drive pass the bus stop and continue making stop after where the locals were.
