Apes Hill Barbados Golf Resort and Community

With its spectacular coastal views, deep gullies and romantic coral cave backdrops, Apes Hill uses its natural attributes to add beauty and variety for all levels of golfers to provide a challenging yet playable course. Apes Hill’s 18th hole par-72 championship level course, redesigned by Ron Kirby, features deep gullies carving through the fairway with ancient bearded fig trees and other indigenous fauna. It’s a unique championship course where large troops of Barbados Green monkeys roam – and the 20th Hole (Halfway House) and clubhouse waits to welcome you with a refreshing drink.

The serious golfers in my group love the golf here. They also love the proximity to other courses nearby: Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane. Apes Hill is a top notch facility. For non-golfers, there's a walking trail but it is permissible to use it only with a guided tour which is only on Saturdays. The gym is solid. Lots of machines including an erg. Apparently the location near the driving range is temporary and soon the gym will move to be part of an upcoming wellness centre. The service in the restaurant is slow but very courteous. Seafood dishes are quite tasty. Avoid the beef (here and elsewhere in Barbados) as it is quite tough regardless of how well it is prepared. We are in one of the sprawling new villas with a gorgeous view of the golf course from our huge patio with infinity pool. Each of the 4 luxurious bedrooms has an ensuite, (with "hot" water that is barely warm). I'd like to use the well appointed kitchen except the groceries we ordered have not yet arrived despite placing the order with the requisite 96 hours notice.

Apes Hill sits high on top of St James Barbados. This gorgeous parcel of land, has been manicured to perfection. The combination of palms, tall grasses, beautiful flowering shrubs and trees, rolling hills and exposed ancient coral rock formations has the feel that you're in golfer's paradise. Absolutely stunning. The course itself has something special for all types of golfers. The placement of the water hazards, bunkers, and challenging slopes make each hole something special. In case 18 holes isn't enough, there's the 19th hole. A 100 yard shot downhill onto an island, where spectators can watch you from the terrace at the club house. Your fees include cart, the practice areas and fresh water (you'll need it because it is hot!). We played 3 rounds while we were there. And completed each one in less than 4 hours. The pro shop is nothing to rave about but the staff is super kind and incredibly helpful. We will be back!

Went along with the fellas to capture an amazing experience on this 475 acre lush and perfectly manicured greens amid a natural tropical setting, known as one of the top courses on the island - Apes Hill! Oh, since it’s on a hill, it overlooks the majestic blue ocean beyond. The weather was perfect also, and the wild Monkeys running about made it uniquely special since I’m such a nature lover!

This was my 1st time playing golf at the newly owned and renovated golf course. Played twice before the cha ge of ownership. ABSOLUTELY beautiful. Manicured to a science. Views to die for. It was really stunning, breathtaking, and just unbelievable. Service at the pro shop and bar... second to none! And of course, the properties along this course are just wow! To Sunil and his team, kudos to you all. The attention to detail can not be hidden! Keep it up.
