I rented through Go Rent A Car at Grantley Adams Airport in Barbados, which is affiliated with Enterprise/Alamo. At pickup, I was told my deductible was capped at $500, but after a minor scuff I was billed $1,250. The vehicle already had pre-existing marks documented, but the company used an inflated Inchcape estimate to repaint multiple panels to “showroom condition.” This is not an isolated incident — other customers have reported the same pattern of inflated damage charges, misrepresented deductibles, and unauthorized billing. Enterprise and Alamo should know that these practices reflect poorly on their global brand. Travelers deserve transparency and fair treatment, not surprise charges after returning a vehicle.

Re: Barbados Rental Car Warning for tourist ( What you need to know ) Subject : An experience that cost me hundredth : Alamo Car Rental @ Grantley Adams Airport 10/03/2022 On 10/3/2022, I visited the island for a period of (2) weeks and decided to rent a car from Alamo Car Rental @ Grantley Adams airport at a cost of $624.00 (U.S) dollars which included insurance. I first notice the customer service representative taking several photos of the vehicle including the undercarriage ,rims, tires and every single scratch she could find because it’s a money making business that Alamo knows will make them thousands of extra dollars from un-suspecting tourist and here’s why : Barbados is a beautiful country to visit ,however the roads are in terrible shape , huge potholes everywhere including St Lawrence area the main tourist areas .It’s even worse when it’s raining, because you cannot possible avoid a water puddle that’s most likely a pothole that could potentially damage the undercarriage and cost you extra . In my situation, I came around a curve and there was a coconut in the middle of the road that could not be avoided due to heavy traffic. It rolled underneath the car and made a small quarter size dent on the rear rubberized spoiler underneath the car. Sangeeta Durant, the operations Manager for Alamo in Barbados submitted an estimate as an invoice for $650.00 Barbados dollars but charged my credit card $608.00 U.S dollars. NOTE: $650.00 Barbados dollars is equivalent of $325.00 U.S dollars. He said it includes a (3) day loss of rental and a 25% administrative fee. There’s clearly a difference between an estimate and an invoice bill which means the alleged damage was never repaired. You will be better off using a taxi or bus to get around town. These rental car agencies in Barbados are predators just waiting to steal your hard earned money from unsuspecting tourist due to the road conditions. Don’t be fooled by their smile. I have filed a complaint with the Barbados Department of Commerce and Consumer affairs and I’m awaiting their findings.
