It's all about the rum. Definitely recommend ordering a rum drink to kickoff the meal. I had a rum punch which definitely had a kick to it. Started with honey chicken wings and then had a burger. Both were tasty and succulent. For dessert, we had banana bread and ice cream, along with black cake, which is basically a rum soaked fruit cake. This unique dessert was delicious and very Caribbean. Totally recommend this fun hideaway.

Best pizza on the island! Amazing service too. The only downside is the lack of views but the service and pizza makes up for it.

This looks like a cute little dinner/drink place but it wasn't a great experience for us. They wouldn't take a reservation and that was OK. We arrived for an early dinner and once we were seated they told us the fryers were broken so very limited menu. Problem with that was that everyone around us seemed to be getting food (fries etc) but we couldn't. The server seemed annoyed by us being there (party of 8) so we just wanted to eat quickly and get out. After my husband paid the bill I noticed we were charged for items not brought to us. The server just shrugged and said he'd box up stuff if we really wanted them! We might have just hit an off night but double check your bill if you go. Kids enjoyed their pizza so I was ok with that. One of our only unpleasant dining experiences on our trip as everywhere else was so lovely.

What a great night Monday is with quality live music from 7pm-9pm. We arrived early and had drinks and played cards before ordering our food prior to the music and it getting very busy- pre booking is recommended unless arriving early like we did. The food was great for the price- not fine dining but enjoyed by all. Already rescheduled next Monday to return

Great location and one of the only choices locally if staying in and around Forest Hill’s, we had heard great things from others who have visited before.
Decor is rustic and a decent drinks selection. we opted for a bottle of rose, and some cocktails. The rum punch wasn’t well balanced and left much to be desired as well as a vodka drink which had to be sent back twice.
We chose 2 x beef burgers, mini quesadillas, catch of the day which was blackened red snapper and a chicken Caesar salad.
The quesadillas were decent and the catch of the day delicious. We waited 55 mins from ordering for our dishes to arrive which was too long. When they arrived both beef burgers were cold and we sent them back to be remade.
This took an additional 25 mins and by the time the new dishes arrived the rest of our party had finished dining.
By this point our group wanted to leave so we asked for the burgers to be taken off the bill and boxed up for us to takeaway. The manager said this couldn’t be done as he couldn’t let us leave with the food and it be taken off the bill. We ended up leaving the burgers and the server discounted our bill by 30%
In the end 2 of our party left The Rum Shack hungry and the rest of our party with a bitter taste.
Hopefully this is a one off and further visits will be improved upon.
